Being in the public eye can have a number of negative drawbacks for celebrities, including becoming extremely self-conscious of their own appearance. For some, like former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, it can lead to battling an eating disorder.
Celebrities and eating disorders are nothing new. People noted that Jane Fonda was bulimic until she was 35, and Sally Field fought the same disorder for three years when she was 20. What is new though is opening up and coming forward about eating disorders in Hollywood.
There are a lot of things that come to mind when one thinks of Nicole Scherzinger. For one, the catchy music she released with The Pussycat Dolls and of course her body. Described by many as perfect, gorgeous, sexy, and all the other words that fall into that category may sound like a dream come true but for Nicole was a bit of a nightmare.
She told Cosmopolitan, that her need to be thin started when she was only 14 but that being in the public eye "amplified that." She said, "It was very imprisoning and it stole all of my happiness, confidence, and memories." Better now, Nicole has sound advice for anyone feeling like she once felt, "You should embrace and accept yourself more. Don't be so hard on yourself, and love your curves."
While celebrities and eating disorders are something that we may not get away from soon, there are many who've spoken up about their battles who can serve as an example to love your body and love yourself.
