They used to say that a man should spend at least three month’s salary on an engagement ring for his girl, but in recent months it seems like women are over all that cash being dropped on a ring.
Recently a bride to be by the name of Ariel Desiree McRae stood her ground when it came to defending her $130 engagement ring. She’s not the only one though. Even one of our favorite actresses has confessed to loving her thrifty ring as well!
For Ariel it all started when she and her man set out to the jewelry store to find the perfect ring. With way less than three month’s salary to spare, they were looking for less bling and more sentimental. That’s when the sales clerk made the rude remark while gazing at the cheaper rings, “Can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic.”
Like, girl - no! You cannot say that to customers when you just do not know their situation. Ariel said her now husband’s face was overcome with humiliation. She wrote in her Facebook post, “He already felt like a failure, asking me again and again ‘Are you sure you'll be happy with these? Are you sure this is okay?’ He was so upset at the idea of not making me happy enough and of me not wanting to marry him because my rings didn't cost enough money or weren't flashy enough.”
Now married, Ariel notes it was never about the price of the ring on her finger - it was about marrying the perfect man for her. Which she did, and again...she’s not the only woman who doesn’t care how much her ring cost in the end.
Mila Kunis was proud and boasting about how much hers cost on Conan. While she admitted Ashton Kutcher got her a "stunning" engagement ring, being frugal she didn't want to spend too much on the actual wedding bands. Not into how much a platinum band would cost at Tiffany's, she headed over to Etsy, saw one for $90 and bought that baby right away.
Women like Ariel and Mila are showing that not all women want a flashy ring because in the end - we’d much rather have a man that’s priceless instead.
